Des is coming up on 3 years since first walking through the doors at CrossFit Outlaw North and in January 2021 logged the most workouts in any given month during that time- none of them in the gym.
In her words, she basically gave up during the first lockdown.
I made so many excuses, then I got hurt and made even more.
I still have to modify things, but I’m ok with scaling things back to what I need right now. That’s always been so hard for me, mentally. At the end of the day, I hated the way I felt when I wasn’t working out regularly and eating healthy.
Knowing I’m still seeing progress and feeling a difference while modifying things has kept me consistent and only made me want to work harder.
So what’s different this time?
I went into this lockdown with the mentality that I refuse to give up like the way I did last time.
I’m extremely thankful to have friends I’ve made through the gym that keep me accountable- they have been life savers!
I’ve made some changes to my nutrition which is changing how I feel in the workouts too.
How important is your mindset through all of this?
I always think of Cynthia and how she broke her wrist early on in her CrossFit journey. She never gave up and has had amazing results.
I want to be like that.
