New Year, New Habits

“Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.”
-Jim Ryun

The start of a new year is right around the corner!
The team has been brainstorming and brewed up a nice little habit-based challenge to get us all off on the right foot.

The challenge will start January 4th and last for 30 consecutive days.

The goal is to pick 3 tasks and complete them every day for 30 days in a row. All the people who keep up with their tasks for 30 days will be entered into a draw to win prizes (gift cards, merch, etc.). Not only can you win prizes, but you’ll also be building these tasks into sustainable habits! Choose wisely and have fun!

Choosing Your Initial Tasks

Choose three tasks to start with. The first one will be an easy win, something you know you can do regardless of what life throws at you. If you’re familiar with The 5 Minute Habit (a habit that you can accomplish at the same time every day that takes 5 minutes or less), this first task will be exactly that. The second task will be something you want to remove, like a bad habit. The third task should be something more challenging but empowering. Task three is your big achievement, and you get to turn it into a sustainable habit!

Task #1 The Easy Win
Examples
-Drink a glass of water every morning before starting the day
-Post workout protein shake
-Take vitamins every day

Task #2 Bad Habit Removal

Examples
-Put phone away at 8:00pm daily
-No alcohol on weekdays
-Go to bed before 11PM

Task #3 Requires Most Effort and Planning

Examples
-Write for 40 minutes 2x per week
-Read minimum 10 minutes per day
-CrossFit 5x per week
-Add a run or hike 3x per week

Ready, set, GO! Once you have mapped out your three tasks, start checking them off. We’ll have a place to do this on SugarWOD at the top of each day and we can all be accountable to each other.
Be realistic with these tasks and know that we don’t always get it right on the first try. Maybe you’ll miss a day and have to start over a few times, and that’s okay! You will figure out which tasks fit nicely into your daily routines and which ones require a little more effort to achieve. Believe in yourself!

Need help? The next communication with your coach will be to help choose your tasks or give some feedback on what you’ve chosen to help get it right.

Once you have your plan in place, feel free to share it! Share in the members group, with friends, or your family support network. Putting it out to the world provides you with more accountability to follow through.
